Harold's Story

Harold Eugene "Gene" Willow, 76, of Terrace Apartments, Mifflintown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Sunbury, a son of the late William Lee and Marietta (Smith) Willow. On May 29, 1958, he married the former Janet R. Singer, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 58 years.

Eugene was a graduate of East Juniata High School.
He retired as a truck driver after 20 years from ABF Freight, Carlisle. He was formerly employed by Interstate System and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. In his earlier years, Eugene worked with his father as a lumberman and logger.
He attended St. Peters Community Church, Millerstown and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the National Rifle Association, Teamsters Union, and the Harley Owner Group. He was a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Millerstown and the Future Farmers of America.
Eugene enjoyed hunting, restoring old antique tractors and cars, camping with his family and friends, and traveling with his wife on their Harley Davidson motorcycle across the country and Canada.

In addition to his wife, Janet, Eugene is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shirley A. and Terry Womer, of Middleburg; one grandson, Scott Womer and his wife, Becky, of New Berlin; one great-granddaughter, Sage Womer; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Joanne Bingaman.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Community Church, Zeiders Road, Millerstown, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Brittin F. Stimeling officiating.
Burial will be in Richfield Union Cemetery.
