Harold's Story

Text size

Harold Leroy Weller, 76, of 12900 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, was ushered into eternity on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. A beautiful heart stopped beating that evening.
He was born September 23, 1940, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Luther and Miriam (Brown) Weller. On May 27, 1995, he married the former Wanda M. Wonders who devoted her life to him and served as his caretaker for the last several years after he suffered a stroke and then Parkinson's Disease.
He had been employed at the Laurelton Center, Danville State Hospital, and retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was well known for his custom sawing with his portable saw mill.
He attended the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene.
Harold enjoyed going on hunting trips out west and Canada, as well as going fishing, attending public sales, and running his sawmill. He always had a kind and generous spirit and was eager to help others in need.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Marjorie Reichenbach, Michael Weller, and Seth Weller, all of Mifflinburg; stepgranddaughter, Abigail Marks, of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Donald and Robert Weller, both of Mifflinburg; and his mother-in-law, Evelyn Wonders, of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Kenneth Weller; one sister, Pauline Mull; and a stepdaughter, Amanda Marks.
A viewing will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Wayne S. Krell officiating.
Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery.
Contributions to honor Harold's memory may be made to his wife, Wanda, to help defray medical expenses.
The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth Knouse for faithfully giving of her time a day each week to help care for Harold, Dr. Dominic Ronco and all the staff at Mifflinburg Family Practice, and the staff at Hershey Medical Center. Your love, support, care and compassion is appreciated far more than words can express.
