Gladys A. Heckert, 89, of Hardscrabble Lane, Lewisburg, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at her home.
She was born Dec. 23, 1927, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Thomas L. and Mary M. (Rauch) Stahl. On July 29, 1950, she married the Irvin G. Heckert who preceded her in death Jan. 31, 2003.
She was a 1945 graduate of Northumberland High School.
She was employed by the Sunbury Silk Mill until deciding to leave and take care of her family full time.
Gladys enjoyed baking, had a special fondness for horses, and especially loved German Shepards.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lee E. and Kathy M. Heckert, of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Dawn L. Grandin, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Kevin L. and Leanne B. Grandin; two stepgrandchildren, Megan L. Kratzer and Trisha M. Ruhl; and her German Shepard, Heidi.
In addition to her husband, Gladys was preceded in death by her son-in-law, David L. Grandin.
Friends and family may visit from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Joseph W. Epler Funeral Home, 210 King St., Northumberland, followed by the funeral at 3.
Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
