Gerald's Story

Gerald Franklin Wray, 84, of Beavertown, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Williamsport Hospital.

He was born June 20, 1932, a son of the late James Wray Sr. and Phronie (Paul) Wray. On Dec. 7, 1951, he married Donna May Goss, who passed away in 2013.

Gerald and his wife farmed in Snyder County since 1963. He was born and raised in Belltown, before moving to Pottstown to work on a farm. He then became a door-to-door milk man. In 1963, he moved to Beavertown and farmed until his death. He enjoyed touring with his wife on their Harley motorcycle. He was an avid hunter, Phillies fan and baseball enthusiast. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter.

Surviving are six children, Karen and Edwin Dock, of Middleburg, Barry and Linda Wray, Gary and Crystal Wray, Brian and Penny Wray and Jeff and Amy Wray, all of Beavertown, and Cheryl Moyer and companion Thad Moist, of Middleburg; grandchildren and their spouses, Eric Bobb, Briggon and Jill Bobb, Michelle Dock and fiancé David Ashton, Michael Dock, Cody Dock, Kurt Wray and companion Annette Wells, Kimberly and Troy Paige, Lindsay and Philip Gilbert, Barry Wray Jr., Jennifer Tarbox, Elena and Milan Gross, Jeremy and Serena Wray, Jennifer Wray and fiancé Michael Desautels, Justin and Jamie Wray, Adam and Lauren Wray, Samuel and Brittany Wray, Nathan and Laura Wray, Shaun and Jaime Wray, Jason and Carla Wray, Natalie Demaree, Kristen Moyer and companion Shane Gessner, Heidi and Tammy Moyer; great-grandchildren, Kalen and Hayden Bobb, Faith, Madison and Keilee Dock, Tyler Wray and companion Savannah Rovenolt, Danielle Wray, Allison and Chloe Wells, Brooke and Jenna Paige, Colin and Claire Gilbert, Jamal Coole, Molly and Ava Tarbox, Madeline and Maycie Wray, Cannon and Yvie Desautels, Brian Baysore Jr. and Taylor Wray, Emma and Georgia Wray, Sadie Jean Wray, Ayden Blevins and Hunter Wray, Devon and Wyatt Wray, Jackson and Josie Wray, Chase Fuller, Nola Demaree, Austin Gessner and Cierra Walter; great-great-granddaughter, Ivy Wray; sisters, Shirley and Merle "Bud" Hook, of Milroy, Nancy and Jim Stains, of Lewistown, Betty Ishler, of Alabama; sister-in-law, Deb Wray, of Harrisburg; and all the other children that called him Pap.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer, James Jr., and Leon Wray; brother-in-law, Gene Ishler; sister-in-law, Carmen Wray; and son-in-law, Jay Moyer.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, where the funeral will follow at 11 with Roger Kline officiating.

Burial will follow in Paxtonville Cemetery.
