Gerald's Story

Text size

Gerald Lee "Jerry" Lee Buck, 76, of Tool, Texas, passed away on Aug. 4, 2017, at the Baylor Medical Center, in Dallas, Texas.
He was born Nov. 3, 1940, in Lewisburg, Pa., to Charles and Florence (Henninger) Buck.
Jerry grew up in Milton, Pa., and graduated from Milton High School.
Gerald married Patricia Pick in 1959 in Milton. They were happily married for 53 years.
It would be easier to list what our dad didn't enjoy than what he did. He loved learning new things. He was a man who enjoyed working with his hands and could build a house from the ground up (which he did multiple times). He loved going to air shows and concerts, was active in the local American Legion, received a lifetime achievement award in xxx, and had well over 5,000 hours as a Texas Parks volunteer, many of them at Purtis Creek and Livingston parks, was part of the local fire department and Citizens on Patrol. Those that knew our dad would say he never met a stranger. He had a big heart and would find a way to help those around him, in many cases without them realizing he did.
Gerald wore many hats through his life. From factory worker and sales person for Grant's in Milton, to long haul truck driver, bring him and the family to Texas in 1980, followed by water and street supervisor for the City of Wills Point from which he retired in 2000. He and his wife Patricia spent the next four years traveling with their 5th wheel, seeing the U.S. and hosting at campgrounds around Texas, finally putting roots down in Tool in 2005.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and is survived by his children, Janet Buck Kershner and Jerry Leroy (Patty) Buck, of Tool, and Valerie (Daniel) Martin, of Gun Barrel City, Texas; his grandchildren, Kevin Kershner, Matt Buck, Jeremy Buck, Shelby Buck, Trishia Buck, Brandon Martin along with many great-grandchildren and friends.
The memorial service is scheduled for Aug. 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Tool, 1901 Tool Lane, Tool. Please come and help us celebrate the life of our father and friend.
