George R. Lesko, 92, of 954 Terrace Drive, Lewisburg, formerly of Hollywood near Hazelton, passed away Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017, at RiverWoods in Lewisburg.
A native of Hazelton, he was born April 21, 1924, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Lipko) Lesko. He married the former Dorothy Yurko in May 1951 and his death breaks a marital union of 65 years.
George was a graduate of the Hazelton High School and served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II as a telephone switchboard operator in France and Germany from 1943-1945.
He was last employed as a maintenance man at Bloomsburg University.
George was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Lewisburg.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and Dan Weatherly, of Lewisburg and Pamela and Gary Kleppinger, of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Tara Kleppinger and Grant Kleppinger; one brother, Joseph Lesko, of Warner Robbins, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Andrew and Emil; and one sister, Mary Muscavitch.
Friends and relatives will be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11, with the Rev. Msgr. William M. Richardson as celebrant.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
