George C. Condern, 93, of Lunar Lane, Milton and formerly of Reno, Nev., passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017, at his home.
Born in Milton on March 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Huff) Condern. He was married on March 17, 1959, to the former Angeline N. Cook who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2003.
George was a 1942 graduate of Milton High School and he attended the University of Pittsburgh and Columbia University in New York. He served in the Army Air Corps 313th Fighter Squadron during World War II and then the Air Force until he retired in 1968 after 22 years of service. He attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After retirement he worked as an office manager for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Md. He was a member of the American Legion, The Loyal Order of the Moose, and AARP.
He is survived by a sister, Frances R. Eisenhower, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and five sisters, Betty Condern, Catherine Condern, Margaretta Heckert, Helen Fritzinger, and Nancy Davis.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery and will be announced at a later date.
