Gene I. Harris, 88, of Danville, formally of Hickory Corners, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
He was born April 15, 1929, in Hickory Corners, a son of the late Grace (Lehman) and George Harris. He was married to the former Shirley Lesher who survives.
Gene served in the Army and was employed at Bolig's Propane Inc.
He was a founding member of the Hickory Corners Fire Company, a member of the American Legion Alvin E. Long Post, Mandata, and Zion Stone Valley Church, Dalmatia.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Terry Harris and Jan Harris; one brother, Wendell Harris; one sister, Ruby Moyer; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Clark Harris.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, at Zion Stone Valley Church, Dalmatia, followed by a memorial service at 11.
Interment will take place in the Stone Valley Cemetery, Dalmatia.
