Franklin's Story

Franklin Elwood Newcome, 74, of Route 235, Beavertown, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Aug. 4, 1942, a son of the late Franklin Elwood Newcomer Sr. and Bertha G. (Scholl) Newcomer Delsite. He was married to the former Pearl Kuhns, of Northumberland. He lived in Beavertown for 35 years with his companion Rachel Weader.

Frank was employed for years at Houser Homes and Poloran Homes as a welder. He also worked as a tree trimmer after Poloran Homes closed. After retirement, he became known as the "Woodman" to many people.
Frank enjoyed and loved all his family, grandchildren, and many friends very much.

He is survived by five children, Ruth Dillree, of Lewistown, Clair and wife Linda Newcomer, Bertha Newcomer of Northumberland, Harry Newcomer of Northumberland and Scott and Tammy, Newcomer, of Mifflinburg; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four sisters and one brother, Martha L. Knouse, of Beavertown and companion Roger Long, William C. Newcomer, of Penns Creek, and Harry Oyster, Jennie V. Bowersox and Van Bowersox, of Mifflinburg, Linda L. Knouse, of Middleburg, Gertrude Leach, of Beaver Springs; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes special thanks to Lester Long and his wife and his two daughters and one son, and also Roger Long for being there from the beginning to the end for Franklin.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, in Troxelville Union Cemetery

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
