Emily Mae Ebling, 98, formerly of Riverside, passed away Monday morning, Sept. 19, 2016, at the Colonial Park Care Center in Harrisburg.
She was born March 31, 1918, in Danville, a daughter of the late Howard and Margaret (Shellhammer) Riley. On May 9, 1952, in Winchester, Va., she married William J. Ebling who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2008, breaking a marital union of 55 years.

Emily was a homemaker and a foster mother to more than 50 infants over the course of 30 years. During World War II Emily worked in an ammunitions factory in Lancaster.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville since she was 11 years old.
Emily enjoyed solitaire, knitting, her precious animals, jigsaw puzzles with neighbors, yard sales and she especially loved the Christmas season. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family.

Emily is survived by one son, William J. "Skip" Ebling II, of Riverside; and two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann L. Ebling, of Hummelstown, and Susan L. and Mervin Lippert, of Halifax; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Craig F. Ebling in 2008; one brother, Lewis D. Riley; and five sisters, Elizabeth Snyder, Lucy Temple, Agnes Holdren, Lucille Riley and E. Frances Fleck.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service tat 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 W. Mahoning St., Danville, with the Rev. Trevor J. Hahn officiating.
Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, Danville.
