Elwood Larue "Woody" Bennage, 80, of 160 Pottsgrove Road, Danville, passed away on Sunday morning, July 9, 2017, at the Milton Healthcare and Rehab.
A native of Union Counlty, he was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ernest and Grace (Keiser) Bennage. He was married to the former Sharen Wesley and his death breaks a marital union of 51 years.
Woody attended the Lewisburg schools and had served as an Army drill sergeant at Fort Knox in the 1960s.
He was a truck driver for 45 years working for Watsontown Foundry, Philco Fordl/Zenith, and retired from Warshaws.
Woody enjoyed bowling, listening to Jimmy Swaggart, building bird houses, hunting, and watching game shows.
Survinving in addition to his wife are six children and their spouses, Brenda and Joseph Petaccio and Barbara and James Wacker, all of New Jersey, Beverly and Gary Luzier, of Milton, Bernice and Dwight Kennedy, Brad and Ginny Bennage, and Becky Bennage, all of Danville; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 7:30, with Pastor Colleen Kline of Truth and Restoration Church, officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Woody's memory be made to The Truth and Restoration Church, 113 Sand Hill Road, Milton, PA 17837.
