Elizabeth A "Liz" Wintersteen, 88, of Watsontown, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at the Millville Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born July 8, 1928, in Danville, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Hudak) Vargo. She was married to Fred Wintersteen for 39 years until his passing in 2001.
Liz was a 1945 graduate of Danville High School.
She was employed at Merck Pharmaceuticals in Danville, retiring after 17 years of service.
She attended Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, and was a former member of the Red Hat Society, Watsontown, and the New Columbia Senior Citizens group.
Liz loved playing cards and was a true outdoorswomen. She loved traveling across the country hunting and fishing.
She is survived by her stepson, Fred A. Wintersteen, of Florida; stepdaughter, Fay Switzer, of Sunbury; one sister, Anna Leitzel; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Lorna Ranck.
She was preceded in death by five brothers; five sisters, and one stepdaughter, Freda Shultz.
Family and friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main St. Watsontown, followed by the funeral at 11.
Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.
