Edward Allen Garvine, 81, of Delta, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at York Hospital.
He was born March 21, 1935, in the Woodbine Area of lower York County, a son of the late Clarence and Jane (Dugan) Garvine.
Ed taught math for South Eastern School District and the Red Lion Area School District and retired with 35 years of service. Later in life, he worked as a very talented handyman.
A lifetime resident of York County, Ed was a dedicated member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church of Fawn Grove where he served numerous years on the cemetery association. For the last 18 years, Ed attended Paxtonville United Methodist Church.Ed loved dancing to country music and you could find him at many local dances every weekend.
Ed is survived by his companion of 18 years, Lucille Zimmerman, of Paxtonville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian A. and Deborah Garvine and Robert A. Garvine, all of Delta; two brothers, Richard Garvine, of Forest Hill, Md., and Donald and Linda Garvine, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Les Whiteford, of Whiteford, Md.; one granddaughter, Meghan Garvine, of Delta, and two nieces and two nephews.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St., Delta, where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Beth R. Holz of The Peach Bottom Charge officiating.
Interment will be in Moun Olivet Cemetery, Fawn Grove, with military honors presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
