Earl J. Hopple Jr., of Harvest, Ala., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at the Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 24, 1939, in Lebanon, Pa., a son of the late Earl J. Sr., and Emma (Snyder) Hopple. He was married to the former Viviane Weiss who survives. On Nov. 10, they would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.
Earl retired from the Air Force in 1982. He later retired from the Selinsgrove Center, Selinsgrove, Pa., in 2001.
He enjoyed his retirement years with his wife traveling in their motor home. They spent many years together as snowbirds enjoying the beautiful Florida weather. More than anything, Earl loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his kind spirit and amazing Christmas displays. Earl had many friends and was loved by all who met him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark Hopple and wife, Roxanne, of Madison, Ala., and Jimmy Hopple, of Inwood, W.Va.; one daughter, Linda Hopple, of Huntsville, Ala.: one brother, Glenn G. Hopple (Deb), of Harrisburg, Pa.; one sister, Doris J. Crouse (Colin), of Lebanon, Pa.; grandchildren, Amber Pinkey (Ryan), Shannon Rico (Lori), Casey Kocher (Adam), Justin Hopple, Austin Hopple, and Kaitlyn Hopple; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bruce N. Hopple.
A viewing will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Route 72 & Camp Meeting Road, Jonestown, followed by the funeral at 9:30.
Interment with full military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
