Dorothy A. "Dot" Bowers, 93, of Trevorton, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at the Sunbury Community Hospital.
She was born May 17, 1923, in Trevorton, a daughter of the late Peter and Dora (Rebuck) Schwartz. Dorothy was married to Mark R. Bowers who preceded her in death in 1965.
Dot was a lifelong resident of Trevorton and attended Trevorton schools.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Mandata Poultry Plant and later as a seamstress in a local garment factory.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church Trevorton, the Trevorton Senior Action Center, the Trevorton Patsies and the Trevorton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Dot enjoyed socializing with family and friends, playing bingo, music, and the outdoors.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joanne and Gary Swank and Brenda Breinich, all of Trevorton, and Bonnie and Dean Wolfe, of Paxinos; two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark "Butch" and Linda Bowers, of Dornsife, and Raymond Bowers and companion Debra Giedosh, of Selinsgrove; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bowers, of Selinsgrove; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Bowers; one sister, Mabel Reedy; and six brothers, Francis, Peter, Paul, Theodore, Albert and Ralph Schwartz.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 with the Rev. Steven Frenier as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Trevorton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, PA 17881.
Funeral arrangements are by the Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
