Doris Jean (Geringer) Dysinger, 70, of Milton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the Milton Nursing & Rehab Center, Milton.
She was born April 22, 1946, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late Paul and Thelma (King) Geringer. On June 19, 1971, Doris married James A. Dysinger who survives. They celebrated 45 years of marriage together last year.
Doris graduated with honors from Muncy High School in 1964. She attended Lock Haven State College with a dual major in English and Theater, Class of 1968.
She became a teacher in the Warrior Run School District, where she met her husband, James. In 1974, Doris left teaching to raise her two sons, Joel and Jeremy. In the mid-1980s, she worked at Bucknell University, where she was soon named Head of Special Collections in the University Archives, and retired after 23 years. During her time at Bucknell, she earned her master's degree in Women's Studies.
She was a former member of the Muncy United Methodist Church.
Doris enjoyed reading, lighthouses, and crafts. In later years, she and Jim enjoyed many visits to see their grandsons in New York, going to concerts and to the movies.
In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeremy A. and Valerie Dysinger, of Williamson, N.Y., and Joel A. Dysinger, of Milton; and two grandsons, Jaden and Marshall.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
A private burial will be held on Tuesday in the Milton Cemetery.
