Doris N. Beck, 89, of Sunbury, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at the Buffalo Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
She was born Oct. 20, 1926, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Warren and Mary (Wolfe) Steele. She was married to Robert E. Beck who preceded her in death on June 20, 2012.
Doris was a 1944 graduate of Sunbury high School and was formerly employed by the Sunbury Green Stamp Store and for more than 25 years. She also served as the Rockefeller Township tax collector.
She was a member of the United Lutheran Church at Wolfe's Crossroads and was active as a Sunday school teacher, Alter Guild, Church Prayer Chain and coordinated many Christmas programs. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Auxiliary of the Tall Cedars, both of Sunbury and she and her late husband were formerly active in in the Shikellamy Band Parents Association.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry R. and Helen Beck, and Thomas A. Beck, all of Sunbury; four grandchildren, Mark E. Beck, Matthew S. Beck, Jennifer V. Fisher and husband, Travis, and Scott Beck; three great-grandchildren, Logan and Lauren Fisher and Trey Beck; and one son-in-law, Jacob Gass, of Sunbury.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Gass.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the United Lutheran Church, Wolfe's Crossroads, followed by the funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations in Doris' memory to the Memorial Fund of the United Lutheran Church, 167 Seven Points Road, Sunbury, PA 17801.
Arrangements are by the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
