Donald W. Novak, 78, Bear Creek, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Golden Living Center, Sunbury. He was born Sept. 3, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Walter and Mary (Zegarski) Novak. A 1956 graduate of Plains High School he was an Army veteran. Mr. Novak was employed by Topps Chewing Gum, Duryea, for 42 years as a maintenance mechanic. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors watching birds and wild animals. A life long resident of Bear Creek he was a member of St. Elizabeths Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Helen Murphy Novak.
Surviving are his daughters, Maureen Pugh and her husband, William, Sharon Fox and her companion, Ray Hoopengardner; grandchildren, Chrysta and Kayla Fox, Matthew and William Pugh; great grandchildren, Logan Allen, David, Dillian and Dawson Webb; brothers, Joseph Novak and his wife Alice, Robert Novak and his wife, Margie; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the E. Blake Collins Funeral Home, 159 George Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Elizabeths Church. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
