Dolores M. Snyder, 85, of John's Way, Northumberland, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
She was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Irish Valley, a daughter of the late Walter and Charlotte (Chapleski) Vockie and was raised by the late Walter and Florence Petroskie.
On March 31, 1951, she married Richard D. Snyder who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2008.
Dolores was a 1949 graduate of Northumberland High School.
She served as the Northumberland Borough tax collector for 28 years and was employed as a bookkeeper for Rich Oil. Dolores was also a dedicated homemaker and loving wife and mother.
Mrs. Snyder was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Sunbury.
She was active in several local clubs including Point Township Garden Club, Northumberland Post Card Club and the Northumberland County Historical Society.
She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, took great pleasure in tending her flower and vegetable gardens and was an avid bowler, participating in local leagues.
Dolores is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Toni A. Snyder, of Northumberland; one daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte M. and John J. Wernsdorfer III, of Harrisville, N.Y.; two grandsons, John J. Wernsdorfer IV and Travis P.W. Fisher and wife Jennifer V., all of Northumberland; four great-grandchildren, Solomon D. and Evan J. Wernsdorfer and Logan P.W. and Lauren R. Fisher; one brother, Daniel Vockie, of St. Clair; and one sister, Eleanor Anzur, of California.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Truman and Chester Vockie; and nine sisters, Violet Marnickas, Florence Buzas, Marcella Anderko, Christine Rozinski, Marcie Kerwin, Helen Krushinski, Cecelia Vottero, Helen Filamoski and Verna Kostec.
Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 109 Market St., Sunbury, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Father Fred Wangwe AJ as celebrant.
Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington.
