Dennis Jay Benfer, 65, of Northumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2017, in Charlotte, N.C.
He was born June 13, 1951,, to George K. and Rachel J. (Kelley) Benfer.
Dennis was a 1969 graduate of Shikellamy High School.
He worked for many years in the trucking industry, where he was currently employed by Knight Transportation located out of Carlisle. He surely was able to listen to a lot of Elvis "The King" during his travels across the United States and many other destinations.
Dennis had an adventurous soul and anyone that knew him understood that, when he flashed his mischievous smile, something interesting was being planned. Den had a passion for martial arts and after attaining a third degree black belt in Geshun Jitsu, he opened his own DO JO in Sunbury. Other hobbies he enjoyed since childhood was collecting knives and celebrating "anything" with fireworks.
Dennis is survived by his only daughter, Crystal J. (Benfer) Dudanowicz and her husband, Brandon; two siblings, Donald Benfer and Cynthia O'Connor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Landis Benfer.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon Saturday in Riverview Cemetery, Northumberland, followed by a reception at St. John's Lutheran Church, Third and Queen Street, Northumberland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
