David R. Schlief, 60, of Middleburg, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at his home with his loved ones surrounding him.
He was born Sept. 16, 1956, in Sunbury, a son of the late Vernon and Betty (Smith) Schlief. On Dec. 12, 1973, he married the former Diane L. Gilbert who survives.
David enjoyed doing construction work, shooting bow, and working on cars, but especially spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law, Tina M. Schlief, of Mount Pleasant Mills, Angel and Coby Sarfine, of Middleburg, Renee and David Liwe, of Bethlehem, Raven and Ethan Schroeder, of Wyoming, and Jesse and Brandon Renninger, of McClure; Dave was very loved by his 11 grandchildren, Malik, Devaughn, Kashia, Hailee, Alex, Aydin, Logan, Landon, Jakoby, Teagyn, and Jocelynn; and his eight siblings and their spouses, Nancy Minium and Tom, Russell and Connie Schlief, Virgil and Jane Schlief, Edwin and Kathy Schlief, William Schlief, Debra Schlief, Delbert Schlief, Sandra and Jim Welliver.
At his request, services will be held in the privacy of his home with his family.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
