Daniel J. Bingaman Sr., 94, of Trent Road, Turbotville, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2017, at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Hartley Township, Union County, a son of the late Simon and Cora (Sholter) Bingaman. On May 25, 1968, he married Irene Heddings and they have celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Daniel graduated from Laurelton High School in 1941 and enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He served from January 1942 until December 1944 in North Africa and was honorably discharged.
After returning home from the service he worked at American Home Foods for 42 years.
Daniel enjoyed hunting and fishing and there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He was a good father and taught his sons to fix things. He was lovingly called "Pap".
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Judith and James Pearson, of Harrisburg, Rose Robbins, of Turbotville, Juanita and Paul Kurtz, of Milton, and Crystal and Doug Bupp, of Middleburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Conrad and Ruth Robbins, of Winfield, Randall Robbins and companion Carleen Allen, of Turbotville, and Daniel J. Jr. and Sarah Bingaman, of Muncy; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Earl, Fred, and Everett Bingaman; and three sisters, Gladys Harvey, Isabel Battinger, and Rhoda Nale.
Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Brooks Funeral Home and Cremation Svc, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. James R. Bond of Revival Tabernacle officiating.
Burial with full military honors will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
