D. Blaine Cooper, 77, a resident of Laporte, died peacefully on May 23, 2017, at the Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 2, 1939, in Danville, a son of the late Donald and Margaret (Blaine) Cooper. On Aug. 3, 1963, he married the former Diana Yavorski and they have celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Blaine was a 1958 graduate of Warrior Run High School where he was active in wrestling, football and baseball. He attended Lycoming College.
He was the owner and manager of Cooper's Hardware until retirement.
Blaine was a PIAA wrestling official for 40 years and refereed the state tournament twice. He was a member of the District 4 Hall of Fame, and a long time member of the Warrior Run Athletic Association. He was the secretary of the Turbotville Borough for many years.
Blaine was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a retired member of the Elk Run Hunting Club.
In addition to his wife, he was survived by one son, B. Christopher Cooper and wife Kelly; two daughters, Stacy Ferraro and Deena Cooper and her husband Chris Hrapowicki; two grandchildren, Hailey and Toren Cooper; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia and David Howell, of Danville and Susan and Albert Mabus, of Turbotville.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lance D Cooper.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Blaine's memory may be given to Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 245 E. Eighth St., Watsontown, PA 17777.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
