Charles E. "Chuck" Kahle, 77, a resident of Selinsgrove, formerly of Williamsport, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 25, 1940, in Williamsport, Lycoming County, a son of the late Elmer H. and Catherine E. (Glaze) Kahle. He was married to the former Donna J. Hoff who survives. They would have celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28.
Chuck was a 1958 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and attended Penn State University. He honorably served during the Vietnam War with the Army while stationed in Germany and Korea.
He was employed as a programmer by IBM for more than 26 years. Following his retirement he enjoyed dabbling in antiques and restoring picture frames.
Chuck enjoyed photography, gardening, pitching quoits, traveling, having lunch with friends, researching the Kahle genealogy and especially enjoyed jig saw puzzles with his sisters. Chuck and Donna enjoyed vacationing in Scotland, Hawaii and the U.S.A. He is sadly missed by his beloved cat, Mooney.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gina McCoy and husband, Donald, of Hagerstown, Md., and Wendy Kelly, of Laurel, Md.; four grandchildren, Blake (Sarah) McCoy, of Falling Waters, W.Va., Brooke McCoy, serving with the Air Force at Colorado Springs, Colo., Katelyn Kelly-Serio (Tina Serio), of Halethorpe, Md., and Colin (Alysha) Kelly, serving in the Navy at Chesapeake, Va.; one brother, Walter H. (Anita) Kahle, Merrimack, N.H.; three sisters, Marjorie A. Tosloskie, of Paxinos, Patricia L. Kahle, of New Iberia, La., and Deborah S. Kahle, of Nashville, Tenn.; family friend, Sean Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Camdyn and Lucy Kelly and Paytyn McCoy and a fourth great-grandchild expected in September; and several special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at noon Saturday at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. Arlene P. Beechert, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Muncy, officiating. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.
Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Chuck's memory be made to your local animal shelter.
