Charles Michael "Mike" Fidler Sr., 67, of Milton, died in his home on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016. Known as Mike to his friends and family, he always had a kind word and smile for everyone he met. His passing has left many brokenhearted, but proud to have known him.
He was born Nov. 16, 1948, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Lyle and Jean (Stahl) Fidler.
Mike graduated from Milton High School in 1966 and soon after joined the Navy. He served from 1966 to 1972.
He was a welder by trade and worked at ACF Industries for 31 years until his retirement. For more than 40 years, he and his wife were foster parents for Northumberland County Juvenile Court and Children and Youth Services. In 2001, they were awarded the PA Foster Parents of the Year Award.
Mike was an avid member of Keystone Sportsmen Association in Muncy and enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, trap shooting, metal detecting, beekeeping, and any other adventure he set his mind to. He would often be seen driving his red 1966 Mustang convertible with his family and dogs in tow.
Mike leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Linda. She was the light of his life, and he referred to her fondly as his "honeybabe". He is also survived by his son, Charles Michael Jr. and his wife and son; his son, Lyle Matthew and his wife and daughter; his daughter, Jean Marie; and hundreds of now-grown foster children whom he was proud to call his kids over the years. He also leaves two brothers, H. Steven Fidler and P. Shane Fidler, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Koch, of Nevada.
A visitation with family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home & Cremations Services, PC, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mike's memory be made to the American Heart Association or the American Parkinson's Association. Visit www.wfbrooksfuneralhome.com.
