Catherine D. Kauffman, 88, of Mausdale, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Geisinger Medical Center, and is now at rest.
She was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Augustaville, one of 16 children, a daughter of the late John and Genevieve (Shuck) Kurtz.
Catherine was employed at the Geisinger Medical Center for 23 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville.
Catherine loved to sew, cook, and dance. Catherine was a talented seamstress, creating intricate outfits for composition dolls. She sold and shipped her Shirley Temple dresses all over the world. Her loving companion of 30 years, Tom Dennen, would take her to the post office several times a week to ship her dresses.
In addition to her companion, Tom, she is survived by two sons, John Kauffman and wife Mary, of Turbotville, and Larry Kauffman, of Williamsport; one daughter, Catherine Gray and husband Scott, of Millville; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Kurtz, of Lewisburg; and one sister, Cecelia Tanner, of Limestoneville.
Friends will be received from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Hubert's Chapel, located within the annex of St. Joseph Church, 18 E. Center St., Danville, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11, with her pastor, the Rev. James Lease as celebrant.
