Bryon E. "Laffy" Kurtz, 90, of Milton, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at the Watsontown Health and Rehab Center.
He was born July 3, 1927, in New Columbia, a son of the late George and Ruth (Leech) Kurtz. He was married to the former Audrey Hope Gundrum and His death breaks a marital union of 69 years.
Laffy was a 1945 graduate of Milton High School. He had served in the Navy during World War II as a Gunners Mate in the Pacific Theatre. He had also served in the PA Army National Guard and was called into service during the Korean War as a Master Sargent.
He was employed by Milton Manufacturing, Ceco, Cargo, and North Star Steel, eventually retiring as a quality control supervisor. He had also worked for Walmart for 18 years, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Milton.
Laffy enjoyed prospecting and collecting and reading about military material. He enjoyed traveling with his wife throughout the United States especially their trips to Florida and one to the Bahamas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kathy Eileen (Kurtz) Waltman, of Mechanicsburg; one granddaughter, Jenna Lawson and her husband Eric, of Hershey; and one great-granddaughter, Harper Lawson.
Graveside services with military honors will be announced at a later date by the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.
