Betty J. Douty, 87, of Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg and formerly of Millerstown, entered into rest on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at PinnacleHealth West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.
She was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Harley and Margaret (Good) Freed. On Aug. 9, 1947, she married Clair W. Douty who preceded her.
Betty attended Freeburg public schools.
She retired from the Harrisburg State Hospital.
Betty enjoyed working outdoors in her garden, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Joseph Dressler, of Millerstown; one son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Lynne Douty, of Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren, Purnell and Jim Dressler, Angie Shoop, Sean and Nicholas A. Douty; six great-grandchildren, Amanda, Hollie, Kody, Makayla, Kady, and Nicholas; three great-great-grandchildren, Graham, Carson, and Reese; four brothers, Harley E. and Dale Freed, of Selinsgrove and Paul and Allen Freed, of Freeburg; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Dressler; and two brothers, Carl and Harold Freed.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Hope Bible Church, 9 Witmer Road, Liverpool, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor John Mallonee officiating.
Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Millerstown.
