Betty Louise Comfort, 81, of Sunbury, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at her home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1935, a daughter of the late Roy Calvin Moyer and Harriet Rosanna Eichner. On April 11, 1956, she married Ray Comfort who preceded her in death in 2005 breaking a marital union of 49 years.
Betty was a 1953 graduate of Sunbury High School.
She was employed by Champ Hats, Sunbury, and most recently was the company secretary/treasurer for Comfort Brothers. She had also been a notary public for 50 years.
She was a member of the Sunbury Elks ladies auxiliary.
Family and friends were Betty's passion and delight. She loved to crochet and made special gifts for friends and loved ones. She was an excellent homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty loved to travel with her husband to various locations around the world, especially Jamaica.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie Reidinger, of Sunbury; two sons, Dennis Comfort and Allan Comfort and his companion, Cheryl Moyer, all of Sunbury; four siblings and their spouses, William "Bill" and Marty Moyer, Elizabeth and Ruddy Walters, Ruthann and Bill Faust, and Roy Jr. and Darlene Moyer; brother-in-law, Earl Comfort Sr.; three grandchildren, Jeremy Buck and wife, Valerie, Stacey Buck, and Racheal Spotts and husband, Matt; and four great-grandchildren, John Buck, Sierrah Buck, Christian Harrison and Michael Harrison; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard.
A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, followed by the funeral at 11, at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury.
Burial in Lantz Church, Brush Valley Road, Sunbury.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her in her later years, especially Judy Leib who was more than a caregiver for more than six years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
