Bertha A. Walter, 88, of Route 522, Selinsgrove, passed away at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born April 6, 1929, in Middlecreek Township, Snyder County, a daughter of the late Calvin C. and Ida (Knause) Yerger. On Oct. 30, 1948, she married Mahlon E. "Dick" Walter who preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2013.
Earlier in life, Bertha had been employed by Champ Hats, Sunbury, and Wood Mode, Kreamer.
She was a member of the Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg.
Bertha loved old jewelry which she would purchase at yard sales and auctions. She enjoyed playing card games and Parcheesi. Her greatest joy was reserved for her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Melvin E. and Yvonne Walter, of Selinsgrove, Kenneth M. Walter, of Middleburg, and Barry A. and Melinda Walter, of Columbia Crossroads; nine grandchildren, Wendy Reigle, Michelle Moyer, Tiffany, Erica, Stephanie, Zachariah, Malachi, and Wayne Walter, and Sonnilyn Ollis; and nine great-grandchildren, Bryce and Brent Reigle, Cameron, Everett, and Gage Walter, Piper Sampsell, Ivory and Sophie Carnahan, and Isaiah Ollis.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Walter and Mabel Drumheller; and four brothers, Guy, Roy Sr., Harry "Pete", and Glenn "Possum" Yerger.
Friends and family will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 2, with the Rev. Timothy Reich officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Selinsgrove.
Contributions to honor Bertha may be made to Wayside Bible Church.
Arrangements are by the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg.
