Beatrice H. Clewell, 91, of 1769 Creek Road, Danville, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 24, 2017, at Grayson View, Selinsgrove.
A native of Milton she was born April 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Charles W. and Zoe (VanKirk) Haupt. She was married to William E. Clewell and her death breaks a marital union of 71 years.
Beatrice was a 1944 graduate of Milton High School.
She had been a clerk at J J Newberry's, First National Bank, and for many years was a teacher's aide in the Milton School District.
Much of her life evolved around the Chillisquaque Presbyterian Church in Potts Grove where she was historian, Sunday school teacher, elder, deacon, choir member, piano accompanist, and Bible study leader at the church as well as from the home, using the Stonecraft Ministries Bible Study program, and was a member of the United Presbyterian Women.
She was involved in the Potts Grove Alumni reunions, Potts Grove Girls of Yesteryear, and the Christian Women's Club of Lewisburg.
Beatrice enjoyed music, playing the piano, trumpet and organ, was an artist drawing and painting many oil paintings, sewing, knitting and crocheting, a gardener of both flowers and vegetables, and was always a gracious hostess to family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children and their spouses, James E. and Connie Clewell, of Potts Grove, W. Scott and Sharon Clewell, of Milton and Dawn A. and Dane S. Walize, of West Milton; five grandchildren, Amy J. Goodwin, J. Nathan Clewell, Brenda L. Bartlett, Aaron W. Clewell, and Derek W. Walize; six great-grandchildren, Alyse Z. Goodwin, Cole J. Goodwin, Luke S. Goodwin, Mia G. Goodwin, Alissa E. Bartlett, and Katherine A. Clewell.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan S. Clewell; and a brother, Charles W. Haupt.
Private funeral services will be at the convenience of the family followed by burial in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
The family will provide flowers and asks that donations in Beatrice's memory be made to Alzheimers' Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan St., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Funeral arrangements are by the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, Market and Eighth streets, Lewisburg.
