Barry L. Swanger, 72, of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
Born in Lewisburg on May 12, 1944, he was a son of the late Leroy and Dorothy (Hauck) Swanger. He was married to the former Louella M. Lovejoy. His death breaks a marital union of 52 years.
Barry was a 1962 graduate of Lewisburg High School. He was a truck driver, retiring from Kepler Brothers in 2001.
He was a member of the United in Christ Lutheran Church, Lewisburg. He was also a charter member of the Montour Antique Farm Machinery Collectors Association. He enjoyed butchering and canning. He also liked being around people and spending time with his many friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Nelson Swanger and his wife Veronica, of West Milton, and Brian Swanger and his fiancé Cindy Yoder, of Turbotville; two daughters, Lisa Sampsell and her husband Bob, of Mifflinburg, and Sheila Walter, of Mifflinburg; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Dora Mae Minium, of Montoursville, Alice Ann Snyder, of West Milton, Mary Lou Russell, of Lewisburg, and Joan Rearick, of Milton.
He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Larry Swanger.
Friends and relatives will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
