Anna May Elnicki, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Philadelphia on Aug. 27, 2016.
Anna was formerly of Mount Carmel, a daughter of the late Alexander and Frances (Korenkiewicz) Elnicki.
She was predeceased by siblings, Mary Horvath, Sandy Werline, Walter, James, Jean Derr, John and Alex.
Anna is survived by her sister, Dolores Colegrove; best friend, Jane Rowles; sister-in-law, Eva; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Anna was a Catholic educator for 50 years serving the Dioceses of Allentown and Philadelphia. She began her teaching in 1957 as a Sister Servant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Sr. Dolores Christi). She left the community in 1975 and continued teaching in the Catholic schools of Philadelphia. Anna also served in the Peace Corp in Liberia for two years.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Innocents Church, Philadelphia, followed by funeral Mass at 7:30. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
