Amanda's Story

Amanda Marie "Smiley" Marks, 32, of 601 Market St., Mifflinburg, Peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, surrounded by her loving family. A beautiful heart stopped beating that morning.

She was born Sept. 25, 1984, in Lewisburg, a daughter of Joel S. Freed, of Middleburg, and Wanda M. (Wonders) Weller, of Mifflinburg. On March 25, 2006, she married Joseph M. Marks who survives.

Amanda was a 2003 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
She was employed at the Lewisburg McDonald's until her illness required her to retire.
Amanda always had a passion for others. Her sweetness spilled out on everyone around her. Her smile was contagious and her love and devotion to the Lord was evident by her big heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, listening to music, and was an awesome cook and baker.
She was a member of the Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene. On July 29, 2004, God blessed Amanda with the gift of motherhood when she gave birth to her one and only daughter, Abigail. Abigail Marie Marks quickly became the love of her life.

In addition to her parents, husband and daughter, she is survived by three brothers, Seth Weller, of Mifflinburg, and Travis Freed, of Middleburg and Trent Freed, of Selinsgrove; one sister, Amber Freed, of Port Royal; her maternal grandmother, Evelyn Wonders, of Mifflinburg; paternal grandparents, Dale and Arlene Freed, of Selinsgrove; her stepfather, Harold Weller; and her stepmother, Paula Freed; mother-in-law, Sandra Marks; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Levern Wonders; paternal grandmother, Gloria Freed; and her father-in-law, Robert Marks;

Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Mifflinburg Church of the Nazarene, followed by the funeral at 4, with the Rev. Wayne S. Krell officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial fund in Amanda's memory in care of the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, PA 17842.
