A. Charlene's Story

A. Charlene Fry, 79, of Lewisburg, formerly of Watsontown, went to her eternal home with Jesus on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017.

Born July 5, 1937, in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late Ezra and Eva (Ruhl) Miller. On June 10, 1961, she married John R. Fry with whom she was blessed to share nearly 28 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on April 26, 1989.

She was a graduate of Hershey High School.

Charlene was a homemaker earlier in life and then worked at the Maranatha Christian School from 1989 to 2008. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and precious times spent with her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Sylvia Diem and her husband Jesse, of McAlisterville, Rose Weaver and her husband Bill, of Freeburg, Dorita Gehman and her husband Nelson, of Reinholds and William Fry and his wife Sarah, of Marion, Iowa; one sister, Lois Hilsher and husband Richard, of Port Trevorton; one brother, Leslie Miller and wife Beverly, of Elizabethtown; 16 grandchildren, (one deceased), Joshua Diem and wife Lisa, Reuben Diem and wife Lorelle, Jonathan and Almanzo Diem; Benjamin, Beth, Katrina, and Nathan Weaver; Laura, Wayne, and Lewis Gehman; Emma, Braedon, Grayson, and Jaxson Fry; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death besides her husband was one grandson, Jared Gehman; and one brother, Melvin Miller.

Friends and family are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1 at East District Mennonite Church, 71 East District Road, Watsontown, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tim Stoltzfus officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Maranatha Christian School, 1485 Plotts Road, Watsontown, PA 17777.
