Winifred Darlaine Handfield, 54, a resident of Lakeland, Fla., went suddenly to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 6, 2017, at Lakeland Regional Hospital, Lakeland.
She was born March 19, 1963, in Bottle Creek, Turks & Caicos Islands, a daughter of the late Franklyn and Gracita Smith.
Winifred was a 1981 graduate of Lighthouse Christian Academy. She relocated to Lakeland, Fla., and was later employed as a certified nursing assistant with Helping Hand Nursing Services, Lakeland.
Winifred enjoyed reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. But foremost, she loved the Lord. Winifred served faithfully by the side of her husband in the pastorate of God's Missionary Church, Lakeland, where they pastored for seven years.
Winifred is survived by her loving husband, Chester Handfield; mother-in-law, Roselyn Handfield; adopted parents, William and Naomi Tillis; sisters, Blonnie, Susie, Nina, Stephanie, Shirlene, Jennifer, Bonnie, Sandy, Sandra, and Barbara; brothers, Willard, Gilbert, Darrel, Earl, Garnett, Malcom, Lew, Bruce, Allenray, and Martin; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James Smith.
A viewing will be held from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Beavertown God's Missionary Church, followed by a memorial service at 1:30 with the Rev. James Plank officiating.
Burial will be in Beavertown God's Missionary Church Cemetery.
