NEW BERLIN — William H. “Bill” Reigle Jr., 86, of Market Street, passed away at 2:18 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at his home. He was born Feb. 20, 1927, in New Berlin, the son of the late William D. Sr. and Martha H. (Soloman) Reigle. On Aug. 19, 1949, he married the former Patricia R. Naugle, who preceded him in death in 1989. Bill attended Lewisburg High School. He was employed at the New Berlin Garment factory and later at Pennsylvania House as a group leader for 37 years. He was a very active member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, where he served on numerous church committees. He also was a member of the New Berlin Fire Company, a life member of the Northumberland Fire Company, Kratzerville Fire Company, Selinsgrove Moose Lodge 1173, the Sons of the American Legion Post 957, New Berlin, where he was past treasurer, and an honorary member of the United Steel Workers of America. Bill enjoyed most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie L. and Charles “Chuck” Ritter and Linda D. and R. Kurtis Zimmerman; four grandchildren and spouses, Stacy L. and Chris Sauers, Scott D. and Rhonda Ritter, Katrina L. and Ross Mitchell and Melissa A. and Justin Laidacker; seven great-grandchildren, Nathan B. and Collin E. Sauers, Jenna P. and Jeremiah S. Ritter, Ava L. and Emma G. Mitchell and Brady L. Laidacker; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Mary Lou and David Brown, Robin and Blain Liddington, Franklin and Connie Reigle, Barry A. and Suzanne Brouse, Brad I. and Vera Brouse, Timothy L. and Debbie Naugle and Jeffrey A. and Maria Naugle; one sister-in-law, Shirley F. and Dale A. Brouse; and one brother-in-law, Lee R. and Norma Naugle. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Jacob P. Laidacker, in 2012; one niece, Dawn Genth, in 2011; one nephew, Timothy Reigle, in 2011; and one brother, Franklin Reigle, in 1991. Friends and family will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, where the funeral will follow at 11 with the Rev. Andrew S. Fitch officiating. Burial will follow in New Berlin Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Route 304, Market Street, New Berlin, PA 17855.
