William L. Rathburn, 82, of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at his home.
He was born Jan. 12, 1935, in Milton, a son of the late Abram and Mary (Leon) Rathburn. He was married to the former Leona Bogart and his death breaks a marital union of 62 years.
William was a graduate of North Mont High School, Turbotville and had served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He had worked for Continental Can Company for 27 years and Milton Trans for eight years.
He was a member of Washingtonville Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 71, Milton.
During the 1960s and 70s he loved to pitch and play fast pitch softball.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Diane Brosius, of Dornsife; one son, Duane Rathburn, of Milton; two grandchildren, Erin Brosius, of Bethlehem and Brian Brosius, of Elysburg; two great-granddaughters, Abby and Emma; three brothers, Abram Rathburn, of Sunbury, Clarence Leon, of Milton, and Kenneth Rathburn, of Milton; and four sisters, Margaret Bogle, of Milton, Linda Danowsky, of Lewisburg, Ruth Clemens, of Milton, and Carlotta Robles, of Milton.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Rathburn; two brothers, Russell and Robert Rathburn; and two sisters, Ameda Reynolds and Joann Reich.
Friends and relatives will be received from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Washingtonville Lutheran Church, 10 Strawberry Ridge Road, Washingtonville, followed by the funeral at 10, with the Rev. Melody Sell officiating.
Burial will follow in Washingtonville Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will provide flowers and ask for memorial contributions to be made to the Washingtonville Lutheran Church, 10 Strawberry Ridge Road, Washingtonville, PA 17884.
