William James Messner William James Messner, 70, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018.

He was born Dec. 30, 1947, in West Chester, Pa., a son of the Late James S. and Helen Mae (Botts) Messner.

Bill was a professional land surveyor and was a member of the PA Society of Land Surveyors. He surveyed throughout Pennsylvania, the United States, and around the world. Some of his projects included transmission lines for PPL, The Chesapeake Bay Bridge, the pipeline through the Amazon, and the world's largest gold mine in Indonesia.

William was the father of William James Messner II, of New Castle, Pa.; grandfather of Kirkland McKinley Messner and Dalton Gerald Messner, of New Castle; beloved brother of MaryAnn Messner Smeltz (Dennis), of Dalmatia, Pa.; and uncle of Jason Smeltz and Heather Bash.

Relatives and friends are invited to his graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 101 Worthington Road, Exton. William will be laid to rest next to his parents.
