William Michael Fairl, 68, of Selinsgrove, passed away on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a struggle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1948, in Buffalo, N.Y., a son of the late William James and Stella (Madigan) Fairl. In 1986, he married the former Carolyn Hunt who survives.
Bill was a graduate of the University of Detroit with a master's in engineering.
He was employed for more than 40 years by companies providing support to the United States government. He retired in 2012 from CACI Int., Arlington, Va., where he was president of U.S. operations, and then relocated to Selinsgrove.
Bill was known for his love of family, sense of humor, as a musician, and for his compassionate devotion to the service of those less fortunate.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Will and wife Meghan, Patrick, Samuel, and Kathleen; beloved granddaughter, Josie Fairl; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Roselle and Michael and Lori; one sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Jerry Stay; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 400 N. Market St., Selinsgrove, with the Rev. Dr. Ditmar Plajer officiating. A luncheon will follow the service.
Interment will be private in Mount Olive Cemetery, Buffalo, N.Y.
