Willard J. Schlegel 87, of Paxton Drive, Dalmatia, peacefully passed away on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on May 13, 1930, to the late Walter and Martha (Phillips) Schlegel.
Willard was preceded in death by his first wife Janice (Snyder), who he was married to for over 59 years. Together they had eight children.
He is survived by four sons, Daniel (Elizabeth) of Dalmatia, David (Shirley) of Halifax, Matthew (Kelle') of Lititz and Samuel (Kathy) of Dalmatia; four daughters, Alice Mathias (Rob) of Palmyra, Eileen Barlup (John) of Dalmatia, Melody Lesher (Melvin) of Dalmatia, and Susan Cooper (Jonathan) of Lebanon; one brother, Paul (Erma) of Colorado; several nephews and nieces; 34 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three step-sons, Michael, Joseph and Robert.
Willard was fortunate to find love again. He is survived by his wife Zelinda Susan (Biagini) Schlegel.
Willard retired from Bethlehem Steel, enjoyed farming and tinkering. He was very compassionate and eager to help anyone in need. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Elizabethville.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 5, at the Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Millersburg, followed by the memorial service at 7.
