Wendell Englehart Stahl, 92, of Mazeppa, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2019, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village Nursing Home, Lewisburg where he had been a resident for the past five weeks.
He was born Oct. 4, 1926, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Frank and Lulu (Englehart) Stahl. In 1953, he married the former Helen B. Baylor. He was a faithful and loving husband for 57 years until her passing in 2011.

Wendell was a 1944 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School. He served in the Army at an air defense station in east Pittsburgh from 1955-1957.
He lived nearly his whole life in Mazeppa where he and his brother, Frank Jr., operated Stahl Brothers Egg Farm until retirement in 2001.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Grange and maintained an active interest in matters of agriculture and soil conservation. He served as an auditor for Buffalo Township for several years. He was a lifelong and active member of the Mazeppa Union Church and served on the church council and finance committee.
In recent years he enjoyed card playing, special church services, and local musical concerts in the company of friends. He was a loving and faithful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cared about the welfare of his family.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Jacque Stahl of Beaver Falls; one daughter and son-in-law, Marianne K. (Stahl) and Mark Lemon, of Mifflinburg; six grandchildren, Levi Stahl and wife, Frankie, of Baden, Tabitha Ward and husband, Joel, of Beaver Falls, Jedediah Lemon and wife, Briana, of Mifflinburg, Bethany Cerbus and husband, Rory, of Okinawa, Japan, Ethan Stahl and wife, Hannah, of Houston, Texas, and Sarah Lemon of Mifflinburg; and 11 great-grandchildren, Greyson, Avery, Helen, Mason, Jack, Wendell, Hazel, Micah, Eugene, Martin, and Elliot.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; one brother, Frank B. Stahl Jr.; and two sisters, Kathryn Smith and Vivian Ferris.

He particularly appreciated Psalm 23 and is now in the arms of Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 13, at Mazeppa Union Church, 3200 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with pastor Ricky Phillips officiating.
Burial will be in Mazeppa Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of the John H. Shaw III Funeral Home, 801 Market St., Lewisburg.

I especially remember how Wendell loved to eat. He and his wife enjoyed card parties at Marvin and Velma Stahl's back in the 70's and early 80's.
