Wayne C. Baylor, 78, of Danville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at home.
He was born Feb. 14, 1939, in Danville, a son of the late Harold and Clare (Sterling) Baylor. On Sept. 5, 1992, he married the former Lorraine Nolt Hurst who survives
Wayne was a 1957 graduate of Danville Area High School. He served in the Air Force from 1957-1960 as a data processor.
He was employed at various jobs throughout his life, and retired after more than 20 years of service in the maintenance department at the Danville Area School District.
He was a member of Stonington Baptist Church since 2001.
Wayne was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors. He loved to tinker in his garage and was known for his fixing and repairing of many things throughout his life. Wayne also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and John Snyder, of Catawissa, Colleen Baylor, of Taneytown, Md., and Heather and Daryle McNelis, of Bloomsburg; eight grandchildren, Jared Snyder, Jacqueline Carter, Ethan Snyder, Annie Snyder, Matthew and Madeline Lee and Garrett and Aiden McNelis; four stepchildren, Stephen Hurst, of Sunbury, Kathy Hurst, of Danville, and her children, Garrett, Olivia and Gage Rucker, Delores Mills and her husband Michael, of Danville, and their children, Casey and Conner; Louella Thompson and her husband Blair, of Collegeville, and their children, Emma and Norah; one brother, Glen Baylor and his wife Patty, of Danville; four sisters, Marian Patton and Betty Correll, both of Danville, Sue Kopatz and her husband Nelson, of Sayre, Pa., and Sandy Campbell, of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Baylor in January 2000.
Friends will be received from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Stonington Baptist Church, 2113 Hosta Road, Paxinos, followed by a celebration of Wayne's life at 11, with Pastor Nathan C. Clark officiating.
Burial will be held in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville.
