Warren E. "Junior" Smith, 83, of Richard Road, Middleburg, passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 14, 1934, in rural Middleburg, a son of the late Warren and Fannie (Smith) Smith. On Jan. 12, 1953, he married the former Violet Gilbert who survives.
Junior retired several years ago from farming which was his life's passion. He always said he was born to work the land.
He attended the Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg.
Junior enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved very much. In his later years, the Pepper Tree, became his favorite place to enjoy breakfast.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet Roush and fiance, Rick Hackett, Mary and Jay "Ed" Weaver, Carolyn and Joel Hauck; one son, Paul Smith; one daughter-in-law, Dawn Smith; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Smith and wife, Deanna, Eve Smith, Justin Roush and fiance, Jessica Gray, Joshua Roush and wife, Deirdre, Jessica Roush, Zebulon Weaver and wife, Brittney, Jacqueline Hauck, Bryan Hauck, and Benjamin Hauck; nine great-grandchildren, Elliot, Ondrej, Josef, Lukas, Maverick and Liam Smith, Chase and Dakota Roush, and Ace Weaver; and three sisters, Madeline Renard, Vivian Haines, and Violet Stauffer.
He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Smith in 2013; grandson, Dennis Weaver in 1992; one brother, Melvin Smith; and one sister, Gloria Freed.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wayside Bible Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Timothy Reich officiating.
Burial will be in Wayside Bible Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Evangelical for all the loving care and support they have given to our dad and to us as a family.
