Virginia (Ginny) M. Campbell Kretow, 96, of St. Louis, Missouri, died Thursday Feb. 8, 2018, in the VITAS Healthcare inpatient hospice unit at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas. For the past several years, she had spent the holidays and the winter months with her elder daughter and son-in-law in the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas area.
Born Feb. 8, 1922, in Sunbury, Pa., Ginny was the only child of the late John L. and Clara E. Campbell.
She was a 1939 graduate of Sunbury High School. She married her next door neighbor, Michael S. Kretow, on June 26, 1946, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage, before his death in November 1996.
Ginny was an Air Force officer's wife for 26 years, a devoted mother, an excellent cook, an extensive world traveler and always ready for another new adventure.
She is survived by two daughters, Virginia (Ginger) M. Laforest (Joseph), of Colleyville, Texas, and Stephanie M. Hogan (Charles), of New Melle, Mo.; one grandson, Christopher Hogan of New Melle, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, Sunbury, Pa., followed by the funeral at 11.
Interment will be at Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society, or any charity of your choice.
