Victor F. Bridy Victor F. Bridy, 94, of Emmanuel Home, 800 Priestley Ave., Northumberland, formerly of 980 Mahoning St., Milton, went home to be with His Savior, Jesus Christ, while at Grandview Nursing Home on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018.

Born in Kulpmont on April 2, 1924, he was the youngest of 10 children, the son of the late Angelo and Margaret (Gardner) Bridy. He was a resident of Kulpmont until 1967. Victor was employed for twenty-seven years as an independent coal miner. He later retired after working for several decades at Shipper Car Line in Milton. He also served in the United States Navy Air Core during World War II. While serving our country during the war he was a belly gunner and tail gunner on a B17 or B29. During one excursion in Africa he had 20 feet of his wing shot off during a return trip home. By God's grace, he and his crew were able to execute an emergency landing of the aircraft safely.

On December 10, 1947, in Manhattan, New York, he married the love of his life, the late, Genevieve O'Brick. Together they were blessed with 67 years of marriage. He attended Snydertown Christian Assembly, Snydertown, and was a former member of Saint Mary's Church, and the American Legion. Victor had an intense love for gardening. He grew the most brilliant dahlias and roses, as well as delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables. Victor had a very generous heart. He enjoyed sharing his flowers, fruits, and vegetables with those within the community and dearest to his heart. Victor had a deep love for his family and a genuine appreciation for children, including his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and neighbors. He resided and was cared for by those at Emmanuel Home Personal Care, Northumberland, for greater than five years where he enjoyed regularly attending Bible studies and various social activities.

Victor is survived by a son, Victor M. Bridy and his wife Marion of Kulpmont; three grandsons, Victor Michael Bridy Jr. and his wife Lori of Florida, Stephen Bridy and his wife Kimberly of Elysburg, Michael Bridy and his wife Stephanie of Wilkes-Barre; one granddaughter, Kimberly Delbo and her husband Robert of Elysburg; nine great-grandchildren, Robert Delbo, Gabriel Delbo, Gabriella Delbo, Phoebe Bridy, Hannah "Bella" Bridy, Stephen Bridy, Thomas Bridy, Michael Bridy, and Clair Bridy; as well as many great nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his wife and parents, Victor was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Bridy and his wife Karen; four brothers, Ralph Bridy, Edward Bridy, Gilbert Bridy, Victor Bridy; five sisters, Edith Nestico, Irene Alverez, Mildred Camp, Eleanor Bridy, and Vilot Bridy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, Supervisor with Robert J. Delbo, officiating the celebration of life service.
Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township, following the service.
A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc.
