Verna Kazar Hoszowski, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on Monday, Feb. 5, 2018.
She cherished 65 years of a loving and loyal marriage with husband, Michael Hoszowski, until his passing in 2014.
Verna was born in 1929 in Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County. She was the middle child of 11 siblings who grew up together on a farm in Seven Points. She has one surviving sister, Fran, who resides in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include devoted daughter Sonya, married to Jack Cahill, residing in Mahwah, N.J; their son John, married to Kim and son Aidan, living in Hong Kong; son Michael and his spouse Christina, living in Jersey City; daughter Meghan, married to Alex Elliott, residing in Ramsey, N.J. with their son Connor.
Verna is also survived by loving daughter, Gloria, married to Charlie Foote of Ojai, Calif., and loving son Michael, who resides in Bath, PA and his daughter Natasha.
She arrived in NYC at age 16 where she worked and began to build her life. She married Michael Hoszowski in 1949 and devoted her life to being a homemaker in Richmond Hill, N.Y., where the family resided for 25 years.
Verna and Mike eventually moved to Nazareth, where they invested in real estate and served as landlords. In her free time, Verna enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and polka dancing.
In her later years, she enjoyed the Sands Casino and visited her favorite slot machines regularly. She also enjoyed dining out with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
Warm memories abound with nieces, nephews, friends and tenants whom she touched throughout the years. She will be missed by all.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, followed by a prayer service at 11.
Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.
