Theodore's Story

Text size

Theodore J. Morio Jr., 86, of Shamokin Dam, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
He was born May 29, 1930, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late Theodore and Catherine (Casey) Morio.

Theodore attended GAR High School and proudly served our country as a member of the Navy during the Korean War. He served on the USS Leyte and earned the Navy Occupation and Korean Service Medals.
Upon leaving the military, Theodore and his wife, Marilou (Brawley) moved to Philadelphia where he was employed for SEPTA as a bus operator for 40 years.
Theodore was the loving father of five children, David, Mark, Patrick, Theodore and Veronica; He is also the grandfather to Christina, Pamela, Ryan and Samantha, and great-grandfather to Ava, Bailey, Carter, Dannica and Taylor.

Theodore loved spending time with his family and friends and taking vacations, particularly to the New Jersey shore. He was always the "life of the party" and we will miss his great sense of humor along with the endless stories of his adventures in the military and as a bus driver.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Shreiner's Cemetery, Selinsgrove, with Pastor Rodney A. Gray officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 25 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6631.

The family would like to thank the staff at Nottingham Village for the extraordinary care and support they provided to Theodore over the past several years.
