Thelma M. Brouse, 96, of Selinsgrove, passed away at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove. She was a former long-time resident of Stayman Apartments in Shamokin Dam, and prior to that had lived in Center Township, Snyder County.
She was born April 25, 1921, in Lewistown, a daughter of the late Edward E. and Leona Mae (Bell) Jones. She was then adopted by William and Catharine Walter. On May 27, 1941, she married Samuel A. Brouse, who preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2011.
Thelma retired in 1976 from Middleburg Sportswear after 12 years of service.
She was a member of Hummels United Methodist Church, where she had once sung in the choir.
Thelma loved sewing and doing crafts.
She is survived by one son, Carson E. Brouse, of Lewisburg; two granddaughters, Cynthia Musser, of Middleburg, and Connie Hensley, of Beaver Springs; four great-grandchildren, Cassandra Hendricks, Kristen Adee, Amanda Brouse, and Amber Malinowski; seven great-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Tyler Hendricks, Logan and Carter Adee, Sydney Barnes, and Landen and Blaize Malinowski;
She was preceded in death by one son, Donald A. Brouse in 1973; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Friends and family will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hummels United Methodist Church, Middleburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with Pastor Carvel K. May officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
