Sylvia E. Bierly, 83, of 136 Reber Road, Mifflinburg since 1956, went home with her Lord and Savior at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born Oct. 16, 1934, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Adron and Clara (Pennycofe) Oberdorf. On Aug. 23, 1950, in Mifflinburg, she married Dean L. Bierly who preceded her in death Sept. 9, 2009.
Sylvia worked at the Milton Shoe factory for many years, and later in life at the Mifflinburg IGA.
She was an active member of the Buffalo Valley United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.
Sylvia enjoyed reading, crocheting, going to the Penns Creek Senior Center, and her dog, Onyx.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, William W. and Susie Bierly, Wayne L. and Crystal Bierly, and Glenn A. and Rita Bierly, all of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Shelley E. and Steve Nogle, of Millmont; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Homer Oberdorf, Gordon and Joyce Oberdorf, and Abe and Pat Oberdorf, all of Mifflinburg; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Dean L. Bierly Jr.; and one great-grandson, Noah Lucas.
There will be no public viewing. Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Daniel H. Hicks officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
